Rimac seems so well installed on its pedestal in the world so closed of supercars, that we tend to forget that it is barely 8 years that he created his brand and two years later his first concept. Indeed, it was in 2011 that the public had discovered its concept of electric supercar at the Frankfurt Motor Show. It was the Concept One which already had a power of 1.088 hp and a torque of 1.600 Nm. With a 0 to 100 km / h felled in 2.6 s and a maximum speed reaching 355 km / h, the young Croatian felt that it was not enough and that is how Concept S was born. An even sportier and more powerful version which only confirms the ambitions of Rimac.
Many small builders try to make the show presenting futuristic concepts during motorshows, that leave everyone speechless, but just a little minority can really go from concept to production. This was the case of Rimac, which has since become a reference in the very closed circle of overpowering electric cars.
Indeed, if the Concept One impressed already by its performances, its sports version, it goes a little further. The Concept S is different but at the same time with the same concerns as all the other supercars.
Indeed, the Croatian sport displays a look, certainly, simple and purified but mostly very aggressive. Like many supercars today, it uses carbon fiber, such as the grille, side panels, rear-view mirrors and the diffuser. Distinguished by its modernity, the Concept S opts for LED headlights both at the front and at the rear. To claim its sportiness in front of the Concept One, it was entitled to an aerodynamic pack with a more imposing wing and skirts increasing the ground support by 30%.
Performance is, without doubt, the main concern of Rimac but it does not mean that it has neglected the interior of the Concept S. Indeed, everything is there. All the ingredients that make the success of high-end sportscar are there. Leather, Alcantara, carbon fiber, bucket seats but one of its strengths is the technological part. It incorporates a digital dashboard to display all driving information and a digital touch screen. Besides, its infotainment system has served as inspiration for many manufacturers.
As for the technical aspect of the Concept S, Rimac has had time to refine his sportscar. The weight was reduced to show 50 kg less on the balance, the electric motors saw their power increased by 25% compared to the Concept One. It therefore boasts 1,384 horsepower and 1800 Nm of torque, which allows it to reach 100 km / h in 2.5 s, the 200 km / h in 5.6 s and the 300 km / h in just 13.1 seconds.
Thanks to this prowess, Rimac has succeeded in establishing itself as a leading player in the electrical world. Many manufacturers use it for the development of certain elements of their vehicles. The Rimac concepts unquestionably give a very different image far from the typical electric vehicle. We are, in any case, eager to discover his new productions.
